Day 8 Finishing Our Designs

Image
Today was the last day of the j-term. Most of us have finished our designs, which will be put together to create a walk-through experience. We have worked hard this week to get to this point, and we can't wait to see the results of our hard work! We will be meeting once next week to finalize everything so that we can present what we have done on Friday.

Day 7 - Veronica 1/12/23

Today we continued rendering, rigging, animating, and adding more things to our final project. We have been working very hard on getting our individual pieces finished up , and the effort we have been putting into them is evident in their sheer amount of detail .  We have been working together with Mr. Beradino to create a final scene where we can proudly display them, and have even been incorporating elements outside of our computers into our final presentation, such as a fog machine and laser cutters. We have also been working on several rendering tactics and exporting them onto our desktop as images and animation. As a group, we also discussed what direction this project should go and what we need to do to get to our end goal.  Overall, with our diligent workflow and the time and frustration we have been putting into our work, we are excited to be able to present what we have created to everyone.  Aurora's Animation Progress Sienna's Landscape Progress Mr. Beradino Teachi

Day 6, 01/11/2023

Image
Today, we all took a big step forward towards the final product of our projects, and aiming towards a beautiful and well edited interactive experience. Our sixth day started off with a group meeting to assess what we had completed so far, and to brainstorm how all the individual work could be incorporated into one project. This was a big step forwards from simply scanning objects... now, all of us have gotten to some degree of animating sculptures we saw at the MFAH, ranging from people and animals to objects and artefacts. Our discussion brought us to the conclusion that if we made an interactive world, with different spawn points to all of our works, the viewers would be able to be immersed in all of our environments. I personally have mostly been focused on making animations, and making them as polished as I can, but I know some others have been working on building worlds full of very realistic nature, and even others who have been creating very intricate game-like scenarios which w

Day 5 - Armatures and Animations January 10, 2023   On day 5, we started the morning by working on our Blender project, modeling, rigging, and animating our scans. We continue putting the information we gathered from the art museum, increasing user immersion. Midway through the day, Mr. Beradino taught us more about rigging and camera control details. We then implemented what we learned by polishing our models and rigs. At the end of the day, we all gathered for the last lesson of the day and how to render your scenes in Blender. At the top here is an image of a model fully rigged and ready for animation!

Day 4-Forming Our Designs

Image
Today, we started taking the skills we learned the past week and putting them to use, creating our own designs in Blender. By the end of the week, we will end up with multiple experiences that each student has made. Mr. Beradino also taught us how to work with an Arduino processor, and we can use these processors with a joystick to move around in the experiences we create. Here are examples of the work we did today: Using an Arduino Board Blender Creations

Day 2 : January 05, 2023 - Sienna Kissack

Day Two : Blender Course J-Term      Today we started the day off with two animation tutorials. We learned about the basics of blender by learning how to render, use the lighting, and even using keyframes to animate the objects. After learning how to animate, our group walked over the art museum to scan statues for our blender "world". We then sat down with two people, who were touring us throughout the museum, and discussed with them about what our ideas were for our end product. We all agreed on doing our own model or "world", and incorporate it into one big blender model.      I enjoyed seeing the art sculptures and talking about them and discussing about our opinions on what we interpreted from them. From what we talked about, we all had different opinions on each art piece we visited. I also enjoyed looking at the medieval paintings. Those paintings inspired me to incorporate them into my 3D blender model.     I'm excited to learn more about different art

Blog For The 3rd Day - Time Based Media

Image
Alexander McGill   January 6th, 2022  Today we started the day by watching tutorials and building a maze on Blender. It was pretty rough in the beginning because a lot of people couldn't download the Blender Game engine, but once we figured that out, it was pretty good. To make the maze, we had to build it and actually script our character to move. So it was pretty tough, but in the end we all got it and they turned out well.  Here is a maze that  Aurora made using Blender game engine.  After that, we went to the MFA, where we did some more 3D scanning, and learned about time based media. Time based media is a work of art that unfolds over time. We saw a few examples of this at the museum, and they were all really interesting. We saw one that really connected to us because it was extremely detailed digitally rendered trees swaying in the wind (Fig 1). We could make a piece of art similar to that in Blender, by modeling the trees and programing the animation. Another one, which was
